A mechanical model is established to describe the free-end yarn during frictional twisting and the factor affecting the twisting torque. The yarn tension is numerically calculated according to formula derived from the test values. The results show that values calculated for yarn tension conform generally to the test data and that the mechanical model reflects the actual process of friction spinning. 3 refs.
