With the Corolab Schlafhorst has developed a yarn monitoring system for rotor spinning that fulfills all of the requirements of continuous checking of the yarn. The permanent testing of the yarn at each spinning position provides information on yarn quality during the spinning process. Corolab checks the yarn by means of infra-red light, measures it, detects faults, counts them, removes them, and passes all the collected data to a central evaluation unit. Random testing in the laboratory can therefore be largely eliminated. Corolab, which operates on an optical principle similar to that of the human eye, can detect thick places, thin places, moire, and poor or incorrect sliver. Precise data can be obtained on virtually every millimeter of yarn produced.
