New technology displayed at the OTEMAS show in Osaka included the use of electric motors and servomotors in place of belts and gears. Ishikawa exhibited their PSF-TA spinning machine which features anti-node rings for optimum yarn tension control. Kanai Juyo displayed a prototype of a ring spinning machine capable of 35,000 rpm; Toyoda displayed the AR300 open-end machine using induction motors.
