The general properties of the LD of sliver and its relation to drafting force were investigated. Both phenomena were recorded simultaneously at several drafting conditions. The coefficient of variation for LD curves demonstrated the same tendency as that of the drafting force curves for drafting conditions. LD can thus be considered along with drafting force as an expression of roller drafting aspects. 4 refs.
