Since the yarn quality produced on the DRF system is much better than that of single yarn, it was thought that it might be possible to spin the equivalent quality single yarn by using inferior mixings or by reducing waste levels during spinning. Yarn quality from high production cards, tandem cards, and tandem carded DRF yarns are compared. The tandem carded DRF yarns compared well with combed yarn in terms of CSP, imperfections, and yarn grade. 2 refs.
