The success of any cotton spinning mill depend upon yarn quality. Eventually, cotton yarn will not be designated as carded or combed, but sophisticated cleaning equipment using doffer rolls will select fiber by length. Sliver quality and preparation will be increasingly important as more manufacturers eliminate the roving stage and spin directly from the sliver. Automated quality monitoring system will be available for ring, open-end, and jet spinning. These monitoring systems will become more sensitive, reliable, and cheaper. Computer controlled materials handling systems and linkages between processes will make spinning mills more efficient. Improved sliver and quality control will facilitate the manufacture of finer yarns up to 40/1's cotton count.
