A method of calculating an optimum plan for draft distribution requires specifications for the optimum card sliver count, the optimum drafts at the individual passages, the maximum permissible sliver counts in the individual passages (and the resultant doubling coefficient for yarn quality), and additional information on machine stock and operating cycles. Because of the large number of calculations required to implement the method, the use of a computer is recommended. Clear monograms, showing all possible operating conditions, can serve as guides to evaluate spinning performance.
