Two integrated systems were tested for the direct and indirect linking of a ring frame and an automatic cone winder in the spinning process of carded and semi-worsted yarns. Trials demonstrated the feasibility of both systems; however, a new design was needed because of the larger cops, thicker yarns, quantity of packages, and lengths of yarn per package being produced. Depending on the particular application, either a direct link or an indirect link with pallets between spinning machine and winder was advisable. Use of such system in countries with high labor costs could result in substantial savings.
