There must be improvements in insect management at the farm level if mill production problems associated with sticky cotton from insect-produced honeydew are to be minimized. Mills can do the following : store suspected sticky bales, lower the number of sticky bales in the laydown mix, turn to other growth areas, lower the humidity, reduced and crush roll pressure, and use fiber lubricant on problem sites.
