The integrated drawframe (IDF) used in conjunction with the Trutzschler DK 903 carding machine replaces at least one conventional drafting passage. Production lines that use two drafting passages during either ring or rotor spinning or up to three drafting passages during air jet spinning can eliminate the first breaker passage without the use of a leveling device. For coarse and medium count rotor spun yarns that use only one drafting passage, the IDF eliminates the need for a separate drafting process. The technology also provides advantages in processing recuperated and regenerated fibers. In trials comparing DK903/IDF yarns with ring spun denim yarn of Ne 6.5, the IDF yarn had much higher skein strength and fewer short thick places.
