An overview of future yarn preparation processes and machinery addresses opening, carding, combing, drawing, and roving. With current production rates of 1,200 kilograms per hour, future developments in bale opening systems will focus on improving quality with fine particle cleaning devices and automated foreign material detectors. Carding machine improvements will include integrated flat grinding, automatic flat setting measurement, motorized flat setting, integrated cylinder grinding systems, and automatic leveling systems. Combing system improvements will include automatic comb setting and imaging systems that assess nep, particle count, and fiber length and fineness.
