Researchers are analyzing the transient nature of variability and variability conservation laws to develop reliable measures of multicomponent fiber blending. The study has yielded a blending propensity index that shows that fiber blending performance depends on the fiber surface, resiliency, and compatibility. The index provides a quantitative measure of multicomponent blending for industrial use that establishes reference values and optimal fiber mixes.
