CIRAD's system for microspinning cotton samples of 50-500 grams comprises opening, blending, carding, sliver condensation, drawing, and spinning. CIRAD uses a Platt microspinning machine consisting of a minicard, drawing machine, and an eight spindle spinning machine with double drawing, as well as six Suessen open end rotors. The lengths of CIRAD microspun yarns are suitable for weaving fabrics for various kinds of yarn tests. 2 refs.
