Developments are examined in 7 categories : rotor spinning (especially in short staples), air-jet spinning, friction spinning, centrifugal spinning, solospun spinning, compact/condenser spinning, and slub and fancy yarns. Companies with notable innovations in rotor spinning at ITMA include Schlafhorst, Rieter, Elitex, Suessen and Barco. Muratec introduced a new air-jet machine, while Fehrer showed the latest in friction spinning. Techmashexport introduced their centrifugal spinner, while Woodmark/CSIRO offered their Solospun technology. Suessen and Zinser both showed condenser developments. There were numerous innovations an show in slub and fancy yarn spinning.
