The article describes machinery for spinning and preparation for spinning staple fibres exhibited at ITMA 99. The exhibits highlighted include a system for spinning ultrafine cotton yarns by SKF Spinning Parts, the ComforSpin system by Rieter, rotor spinning systems with robots (the Autocoro 288 and Corobox SE II by Schlafhorst), new spinning machines by Rieter (R20) and Savio (FRS), the SC-1 box by Suessen and non-conventional spinning machines by Fehrer, Suessen and Murata. Other advances include rapid sliver production, a dramatic increase in combing speed, new optimum performance cards, new devolopments by Marzoli and Trutzschler and the optimization of opening and cleaning.
