In this article, we concentrate on the tests of combed ring and rotor yarns made from Greek and Egyptian long staple cottons. The rotor spinning machine BD 200S was fed with sliver of noncombed and combed fibres, from which 8 and 16% of noils were and combed yarns were also made on the ring spinning machine. Removing of short fibres in the process of combing lowers the coefficient of variation of the linear density of yarns 15, 18 and 20 tex. The advantageous influence of the combing process is particularly visible in yarns made on the ring spinning machine. The largest differences in CV appear between non-combed yarn and the yarn received from a stream of fibres from which 8% of noils have been removed. Increasing the percentage of noils removed to 16% does not lower the yarn CV in any significant way.
