Cotton yarn manufacturing systems can be modified to process wool fibers. Using shorter wool fibers or reducing the longer fibers to more manageable lengths eliminates problems resulting from the length of wool fibers. problems arising due to the relative weakness of wool fibers, however, persist. A critical review of recent research in the processing of wool fibers on cotton processing systems identifies areas in raw material selection, blend components, additives, waste, combing, and rotor spinning that require further research.
