An energy audit of an Indian spinning mill with 45, 042 spindles operating primarily on high speed diesel power addressed such energy consumption sources as ring spinning machines, humidity control equipment, winding machines carding machines, blowroom machines, heating lamps, and lighting. Each machine was evaluated for method of power transmission, loading sequence, sources of energy waste, and method of control. The humidity control equipment, lighting, and motors consumed most of the mill's energy. Proper scheduling of operating times for various departments based on evaluation of demand patterns reduced energy consumption. 7 refs.
