Belgian textile machine manufacturer Gilbos' Air Twist system applies a twist effect in a single step to multi-ply bulk continuous filament (BCF) yarn at speeds of 400-800 meters per minute. The process entails overtwisting a length of the yarns with air nozzles, fixing the yarns at one end by entangling, and letting the overtwist develop into the required twists per inch. The system is suitable for nearly all BCF carpet and industrial yarns from 1,000-1,500 dtex. The twist division does not impair the surface or appearance of finished multicolored carpet yarns.
