An ongoing project to identify manufacturing methods that optimize the control of foreign fibers during cotton yarn spinning will combine existing detection and extraction systems to optimize performance. Studies will determine maximum cleaning levels during spinning preparation, spinning, and winding. Researchers will combine different extraction machines to optimize removal for specific applications. Systems to be evaluated include BarcoPulsarr's Securomat SCFB, Trutzschler GmbH's Securomat SCFO, Barco nV Automation's SliverWatch System, and Schlafhorst Autocoro GmbH's Colorlab ABS system.
