Air jet covering satisfies the demand for cost effective and flexible manufacture of elastane yarns. Advancements in Spunjet technology permit the use of flat and staple yarns during air jet covering. The physical properties of the raw material must be considered when spinning elastane yarns. Conventional elastane yarns achieve good covering and can be used with filament or staple yarns, but require machine downtime during spindle changes, and require low processing speeds. Spunjet yarns allow for high production speeds, do not require special spindles, and do not snarl.
