Compact spinning reduces yarn hairiness by narrowing the fleece triangles between the final draft and twisting zone. In addition to less hairiness, compact spun yarns offer superior strength, elongation, and luster; better process ability; and the elimination of several yarn manufacturing process. Fabrics manufactured from compact spun yarns exhibit greater smoothness, antipilling properties, and longer durability. Although the dress shirts classification is the predominant market for fabrics manufactured from compact spun yarns, applications are expanding in the woven and knit fabric sectors in Japan.
