Rieter and Cognetex SpA's IDEA COM4 Wool compact spinning machine uses a reduced spinning triangle to improve parallelization and aerodynamic condensation during woolen yarn manufacture. Compact yarns feature improved Uster evenness, greater elongation and abrasion resistance, less hairiness and pilling, and improved wear resistance and comfort. A perforated drum with a diameter of 59 millimeters creates an air flow that compacts the yarns on the cylinder. An elastic control roll with a slant axis prevents tensioning of fibers pinched by the drafting system and the front roll. Controlled balloon spindles increase the production rate by 10-46 percent during the spinning of fine and high quality yarns. the resultant than do conventionally spun woolen yarns.
