Researchers studied the inside flow behavior of yarns to optimize the design of pneumatic spin nozzles used to manufacture yarns. Air velocity distribution on different planes affected yarn performance. A 5:1 scale model, which helped to visualize and measure yarn performance, generated enough data to improve the design of pneumatic spin nozzles. 9 refs.
