Rotor spinning process research analyzed nep and trash transfer from the sliver to the yarn and identified factors that affected the value of the transfer coefficient that describes the nep and trash transfer in the feeding sliver to the yarn. Data from the Uster testing machine and the Advanced Fiber Information System showed that yarn linear density, sliver preparation, and individual spinning point affected the value of the transfer coefficient. Sliver nep content had the biggest effect on the transfer coefficient. Yarns from the same spinning machine but from different spinning points differed in the number of neps per 1,000 meters. 5 refs.
