Spinning mills in developed countries have primarily on automation to remain competitive with yarn spinning mills in developing countries. Efficient and effective automation requires reliable carrier equipment for rotor spinning machines, air jet spinning machines, and winding machines. Variance tolerance for these machines is 1 millimeter in length and 0.25 millimeter in inside package diameter. Conitex-Sonoco manufactures paper cones and paper tubes for the spinning machines. Its SGOB and Softuck prevent yarn tail loss and a trademarked Plush surface on its paper yarn carriers protects the yarn and provides holding properties for proper startup. Other features include notches, grooves, bull nose, roundness, strength, an antinesting rib, and internal and external printing of yarn identification information.
