An introduction to rotor spun yarns addresses yarn structure, weaving, and finishing. Rotor yarns offer better evenness, less hairiness, higher volume, and greater rubfastness than ring spun yarns. Rotor yarns offer superior performance in warp preparation because they emit less dust and require fewer stops per unit area. Although the winding off speeds of rotor yarns are equivalent to those of ring yarns, package buildup is inferior. Compared with similar fabrics manufactured with ring yarns, fabrics manufactured with rotor yarns as warp and filling yarns exhibit inferior hand, appearance, and drape.
