The Circot-Trytex Miniature Spinning System has recently been developed by CIRCOT. The system is reviewed here and its performance assessed. Four machines are available capable of both ring and rotor spinning of fibre samples. The importance of raw material selection by a spinner is underlined. Spinnability of a fibre is discussed. The limitations of fibre quality testing by instruments are explored and the requirements of the spinning shop floor noted.
