Two factors characterized the development of the market for high-quality worsted yarns over the last two years; moderate overall yarn consumption while on the other hand the market for superior yarn quality sets even higher quality standards to form an expanding sector. The demand for finest fibers for wool tops is discussed. Companies who are seeing their superior quality products booming are those who have absorbed most new machines. Spindelfabrik Suessen GmbH’s introduction of the EliTe spinning method promoted this trend. With overall capacity in the worsted sector adequate, machines are usually replaced only when they become obsolete. The Suessen EliTe spinning system can be retrofitted to existing installation. The cross-section of a drafting system with the EliTe spinning system is illustrated and the process examined. Increased strength, substantially reduced hairiness and higher elasticity result in yarn thus produced.
