Characteristics of frotte fancy yarns

Ten types of frotte fancy yarn have been compared by statistical methods. They were produced with two different types of machines: the ESP-X hollow spindle machine and the PL3C ring twisting frame. All the yarns tested were produced from the same raw material, 167 dtex textured polyester filament yarn and 32x2 tex polyacrylonitrile staple fibre yarn. but they were differentiated by the percentage of overfeed of the polyacrylonitrile 'effect' yarn. The comparative analyses were made for the same settings of both machines concerning the twist and the crimp of the effect yarn. The essential differences were stated between yarns produced with the ring twisting frame and the hollow spindle spinning machine. Moreover, the last mentioned method is much more efficient.
