Fiber scientists, fabric and textile developers have long attempted to develop a source of smaller-than-conventional-diameter (10-100microns) manmade fibers. The various efforts and techniques are reviewed. The electrospinning process, the most promising to date, is described. While work is needed to ensure commercial viability. There are many possible end uses for nanofibers.
