The P.ACSS spinning system is described. It is an automatic process of spinning and winding in an uninterrupted productive regime, in which twist is imparted by double centrifugal spindles in the successive phases of loading and unloading, complemented by pneumatic spinning elements. It has been described definitively at the experimental prototype level and is the object of European patent EP 0651 0780B1, published on 29.9.99. At the moment the pre-industrial prototype is at the construction stage in an Innovation programme jointly financed by the EC. The article describes the P.ACSS spinning system, the technological background and previous centrifugal spinning systems.
