Quality Improvement in Spinning - Some Case Studies.

Case studies in yarn spinning quality improvement addressed fabric neppiness, thick defects, yarn breaks during winding, defects in 45s polyester/viscose blend yarns, improvements in Uster percentage, and fillingwise fabric unevenness. Defective operation of a positive clearer comb at the roving machine caused yarn neps. Proper selection of back zone settings and ring spinning machine spacer settings, and the condition of carding machine components and carding wire controlled thick defects and winding breaks. Optimizing break draft at the ring spinning machine and optimal settings between the feed plate and lickerin during carding improved Uster percentage and reduced yarn imperfections. Defective seating of ring spinning machine cradles resulted in fillingwise fabric patchiness.
