Pressure on Prices.

Although yarn shipments remain good, and most mills are being run at capacity, yarn manufacturers continue to expect their markets to remain sluggish in the near term. Yarn prices, expecially the prices of open end yarns, are very low. Factors causing the low prices of all types of yarns include manufacturers who make yarns for their own fabric production operations but sell their surplus yarn stocks at cost, and the dismal T-shirt market. Prices of ring spun and open end carded cotton, combed cotton, and carded cotton/polyester yarns; open end acrylic and polyester yarns, Textured nylon and polyester yarns; filament polyester yarns; and manmade staple fiber yarns are tabulated.
