yarn on packages contain some moisture from conditioning processes. Some processes, such as those that use spray nozzles, only humidify the outer layer of the yarn package, which leads to an uneven distribution of moisture. Problems associated with uneven distribution of moisture include the growth of mold and a decrease in downstream processability. Humidification by rotation involves the use of perforated cones. Although moisture distribution improves, processing costs increase significantly. The yarn generally sticks to the perforations and is thereby damaged. Vacuum conditioning in low temperature saturated steam is an optimal conditioning process that achieves even moisture distribution and excellent processability.
