As part of a project to control toxic gas emissions during the heat setting of carpet yarn, researchers collected technical information from World Carpets in Daltion, Georgia (a manufacturer of tufted, knit, needle punched, felt, and braided carpet), and Diamond Mills in Rome, Georgia (a manufacturer of nylon, polypropylene, polyester, and wool carpet yarn). Based on an intial revies, the researchers recommended that potential emission control systems rely on either thermal condensation or chemical absorption. A comparsion of the two approaches suggested that a chemical absorption system would be less expensive to install and more efficient.
