Modulus Characteristics and Elastic Recovery Properties of Spun Yarns.

Modulus elongation curve obtained from measurements made with sophisticated tensile testing equipment inger the elastic recovery properties of spun yarns. Tensile testing shows that the highest modulus values are obtained for polyester yarns, followed by polyester blends and cotton ring and Rotor spun yarns. Cotton yarns can be strained up to a 2 percent extension level without causing permanent deormation. Polyester blends and polyester yarns can be extended up to 3 percent without permanent deformation. Ring spun yarns exhibit a 55 percent higher modulus value than their rotor spun counterparts. Cotton rotor spun yarns exhibit the maximum elastic rocovery percentage at all strain levels. Sizing improves yarn modulus.
