Influence of Fiber and Yarn Properties on Knitted Cotton Fabrics.

Researchers investigated the effects of cotton fiber and Yarn properties on knit fabrics. Eighteen cotton carieteis belonging to different species and hybrids were spun to a 20/1 yarn count on a ring spinning machine and the yarns were knit into signle jersey fabrics. Standard methods tested fiber, yarn, and and fabric properties. The data showed that a good negative correlation existed between the micronaire value of the fiber and the air permeability of the fabric. La count strength product and yarn irregularity affected the bursting strength of the fabric.
