Researchers performed tensile tests on spandex yarns under a wide range of conditions to investigate the effects of temperature, relative humidity, and strain rates on the stress-strain curve. The temperature ranged from 243 degrees Kelvin to 333 degrees Kelvin. The researchers derived an equation to express the relationship between temperature and modulus. The relative humidity ranged from 35 percent to 95 percent. The researchers derived an equation to express the relationship between relative humidity and modulus. A linear equation approximately expressed the relationship between strain rates and modulus. Coefficients derived for each equation were noted. 5 refs.
