False Twist Influences

Researchers at the Textile && Engineering Institute in Ichalkaranji, India, examined the influence of E, D, K, and X type false twisting machines on the properties of ring spun cotton yarns. The scientists determined the effects of false twisting machine design on evenness, imperfections, yarn strength, yarn count, and hairiness of 20/1, 36/1, and 50/1 yarns. The yarn tests demonstrated that the twisting machine design has a direct influence on roving and yarn quality. The E and D types of design produced the highest quality yarns. The yarns twisted on the X type of design produced were of poor quality.
