This article represents the 7th part of a book devoted to the subject of greases used to facilitate the spinning process. The article deals with the determination of the viscosity of the greases and describes the operation of the Engler viscosimeter, the Saybolt viscosimeter and the Ford cup. Kinematic and dynamic viscosity, the equivalence of results obtained using different methods, Newtonian and non-Newtonian liquids and rotation viscosimeters, eg the Brookfield viscosimeter, are also discussed. The second main theme is the determination of flash point using both open and closed cup testers.
