A steady increase in worldwide production of continuous filament, polyester, and nylon yarns has resulted from the growing demand among developing countries for apparel made from textured yarns. The development of the high temperature 'short' oven has inaugurated a new phase in texturing machine technology. Menegatto has used the new technology to develop a new draw texturing machine, which it first demonstrated at ITMA 1995. The machine features a compact design that allows operators to reach all operating points easily, and a straight yarn path between the first and second shaft with feeding from the bottom to the top, which raises the maximum yarn speed. Its friction spindles are arranged upside down with the individual motor in an upturned position above the plate area, which reduces soiling of the friction device and oven exit. Advantages offered by the new machine include low breakage rates, high yarn quality, low noise levels, fully computerized machine management, and flexibility in the choice of doffing spindles.
