Analysis of Yarn Unevenness by Using a Digital-Signal-Processing Technique.

Researchers developed a microcomputer system for analyzing the unevenness of yarns that converts the analog signal from an Uster Tester into digital form and analyzes the signal using digital-signal-processing techniques. The system uses four statistical parameters to describe yarn unevenness: statistical average, probability-density function, correlation function, and power-spectral-density function. Unlike the Uster Tester, which incorporates a fixed design of electronic circuits for certain parameters, the new yarn testing system may be easily upgraded and modified with new software components. 7 refs.
