The new generation of false-twist texturing machines developed by Barmag AG of Remscheld-Lennep, Germany, is described, with particular reference to the standard and narrow versions of the AFK machine. The AFK has a high doff efficiency rate, due mainly to the fact that it uses only a few modules and is equipped with an intelligent control system. Package removal systems and quality control are discussed.
