High strength glass fibre improves impact and fatigue resistance

Owens Corning of Ohio, USA has developed a high strength glass fibre, ZenTron, which claims to offer a 15-50％ improvement of tensile strength compared with other standard and high strength glass fibres currently on the market. ZenTron fibres also improve impact resistance by as much as 50％, and enhance fatigue resistance. ZenTron has a high silica content and is produced as single end 735 tex rovings in both centre and outside unwind cheeses. The fibres are sized to be compatible with epoxy, phenolic and vinyl ester resins.
