Neural networks, which are mathematical models based on models of biological neural networks, have proved useful for analyzing such aspects of the manufacturing process as monitoring, modeling, and decision making. Researchers have been slow, however, to apply neural network models to the analysis of textile yarn spinning processes. An introduction to the applications of neural networks to real cotton yarn spinning processes addresses technological problems related to machinery and control that affect yarn properties and yarn quality.
