In India, textured yarns can be used in applications ranging from light weight dress fabrics (sari) to heavy weight fabrics. Textured yarns include high elasticity/high stretch yarns with 40-60 percent crimp contraction, medium stretch yarns with 30 percent crimp contraction, and low stretch and high bulk yarns with 15 percent crimp contraction. Indian manufacturers produce textured yarns using the false twist process. Textured yarn fabrics offer improved moisture absorption, thermal insulation, durability, comfort, dimensional stability, warmth, stretchability, and wear resistance. Analysts predict that fabric manufacturers in India will be asked to develop and improve microdenier textured yarns during the next decade.
