A report of research work to explain the wetting mechanism during air-jet texturing is presented. The suitability of filament yarns for this process is also discussed. On the basis of theoretical considerations and the results of experimental studies, it is argued that suitable supply yarns should have a high number of fine filaments, preferably of non-circular cross-section.
