Nylon/nylon, nylon/polyester and polyester/polyester air-jet textured yarns are investigated for blend inhomogeneity after texturing under dry and pre-wetted conditions using cylindrical and convergent/divergent nozzles. Randaom blend irregularity can be achieved unde optimum texturing conditions. use of filaments having dissimilar characteristics or disproportionate blend ratios may result in poor blend inhomogeneity. Improvements in texturing efficiency also result in better blend irregularity. Nozzle design also has an appreciable influence on blend irregularity. Both the air velocity and mass flow rate have an important bearing on intermingling efficiency. There are 11 references.
