A literature review of research concerning yarn hairiness since 1991 addresses instrumentation for measuring yarn hairiness; the effects of spinning processes on yarn hairiness, including ring spinning, rotor spinning, air jet spinning, DREF spinning, worsted spinning, Sirospinning, PLYfil spinning, core and wrap spinning systems, and novel spinning systems; the effects of postspinning processes, sizing, weaving, and knitting and yarn hairiness; and levels of hairiness in commercial sewing threads. 124 refs.
